Last week, a Missouri Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children released 22 recommendations for improving the safety of children to Governor Jay Nixon and lawmakers. This report is a comprehensive look at improving several key areas necessary in preventing and responding to child sexual abuse.
We would like to congratulate our good friend Joy Oesterly, with Missouri KidsFirst, a D2L Facilitator and Instructor, who headed up the task force. The report and recommendations were very well formulated and could have a major impact on the safety of Missouri’s children and be a model for other states to follow. Kudos to Joy and all her colleagues who are clearly so committed to the health and welfare of children. We wish them well on getting the support they need to implement the recommendations.
