Edrei Hutson
When Edrei Hutson told friends that she was writing the short film, Hiding Spot, and finally had the courage to share her story about sexual assault, several of them revealed stories of their own. Hiding Spot also digs deeper, discussing how trauma can present itself later and the importance of mental health and seeking therapy. By writing Hiding Spot, Edrei hopes to continue the dialogue about sexual assault and discuss the topic further, promoting education and awareness. Edrei has written, directed, and produced several short films. Her most recent short film, SISTERS, won 2nd place for best film at the Capital City Black Film Festival and Best Original Screenplay at the Culture and Diversity Film Festival. Edrei is an active member of the Producers Guild of America, the JTC Women of Color List, Women in Moving Pictures, and Array Crew Members. As a writer, Edrei’s focus is on creating diverse content and inspired films with strong female leads that empower.
