Yesterday marked the third year I have spoken with the Charleston Kiwanis Club during National Prevention Month. This great group of people take prevention very seriously and have made it part of their policy that everyone must take Stewards of Children to be a member of the club. I felt a great sense of pride awarding them their Partner in Prevention status as I witnessed first hand how they made it happen. They are a great example for all other civic groups and I hope many more follow their lead on policy and prevention. If awarding the PIP status was not enough, the day got even better when they awarded D2L a check for our prevention month in August. Not a bad way to end a week!
