Darkness to Light Raises
Awareness During April
In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Darkness to Light is asking adults across the lowcountry to raise awareness of child sexual abuse during April. Sexual abuse is a silent epidemic, affecting one in ten children before their 18th birthday.
In addition to several local events hosted by area businesses, Darkness to Light is partnering with several local non-profit organizations as well, including the Exchange Club of Daniel Island, Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, and Prevent Child Abuse America.

“The Charleston community has done amazing work in protecting kids from abuse. Over 40,000 people in the tri-county area have been trained to prevent child sexual abuse. But with the Charleston area population growing every day with the economic growth we’re seeing, the work continues.”
