The idea for this event came about in 2003 at Piccolo Spoleto when Anne Lee, the founder of the organization Darkness to Light, saw the ant sculptures and instantly drew a connection between the ants and her ongoing campaign against child sexual abuse. The “strong little ants who move mountains carrying one grain at a time” reminded her of the way she ran her campaign against child sexual abuse by educating the public one person at a time.
By teaming up with Jeffrey Kennedy and the King Street Marketing Group, Ann and D2L hope others will see the larger-than-life ants and understand that even little guys can have a huge impact.
