To address the issue and better protect children, community adults need to be proactive and join forces. Darkness to Light’s Prevent Now! assists and supports communities in creating sustainable child sexual abuse prevention initiatives that increase awareness, education, prevention, and advocacy.
Prevent Now! Workshop
The Prevent Now! Workshop will teach you how to start a community-based prevention effort. Prevent Now! can also breathe new life into existing prevention initiatives and help build new ones. It is built on a collection of best practices that create and sustain grass root efforts aimed at cultural change. The program provides training, tools, and resources that bring members of the community together to support the effort with funding, influence, and advocacy. Prevent Now! makes prevention a priority in the community and fosters a safer environment for children.
Prevent Now! in your Community
Prevent Now! is formatted into a 1-day workshop that can be brought to your organization, with a minimum attendance of 10 participants. The workshop is $125 and includes:
- How to build awareness in your community using the Prevent Now! Community Awareness Meeting
- How to cultivate funding, training opportunities, and community involvement in the prevention initiative
- Strategies for successful initiatives, including who you should get involved and how to engage them
- All training materials including the Prevent Now! Manual and Guide including a copy of Darkness to Light’s powerful Into the Light documentary, to be used in a Community Awareness Meeting
Whether you are an independent facilitator or an organization representative, you can benefit from attending a Prevent Now! Workshop. This program is used by independent professionals, faith centers, child advocacy organizations, educational institutions, and youth organizations, among others. Prevent Now! is most successful when an enthusiastic individual or organization can dedicate time and resources to prevention. Prevention initiatives look different in each community and there is no exact prescription or limit to how far your community can take the strategy.

| 1:00-3:00 PM | Prevent Now! Funding Strategy. This session provides a new approach to funding for community prevention initiatives, shifting from grant funding as primary sources to individual gifts as a new and sustainable option. Learn about new tools and resources to help you find, involve and keep new individual donors to specifically support a community prevention program. These tools include Into the Light, an 18 minute child sexual abuse documentary and a Economic Impact Presentation that when used in community will increase awareness and engage all kinds of supporters. You will also learn the nuts and bolts of staging Prevent Now! Community Awareness Meetings that will results in "new" support for your organization and program. |
